What we do
We don’t offer a fixed price repair service, as we believe in only doing the work required – we will never “round up” to a set price. We also offer a triage service at no cost, where we’ll discuss options and give you an honest opinion before any postage charges are incurred as sometimes it’s more cost effective to replace, than repair. But we offer a wide range of services such as
- Port replacement such as broken joystick ports
- Repair of broken pins such as hard drive or floppy connectors.
- Socket replacement such as a cracked Agnus, or a worn out CPU socket
- Replacement of components including surface mount ICs
- Repair of the dreaded battery leak
- PCB rework including damaged tracks
We keep you fully informed of diagnostic results, and never commence any work without an agreement of how much it will cost and a likely timescale.

Recap
“Recapping” is the job of replacing capacitors, which are notoriously poor quality on some Amigas. Not only can they affect the use of the computer, but if left unchecked a leaking capacitor can damage the circuit board causing serious issues. It should be seen as a preventative measure, and even the youngest Escom-built machine is now into borrowed time.
We offer a fast turnaround recapping service for all Amigas, with parts held in stock. There are two levels to choose from:
- Standard recap service: We’ll fully test the machine first to make sure there are no faults that aren’t attributable to the capacitors. We’ll fit a premium brand of electrolytic capacitor using our modern rework equipment, these will be the same type and specification as the factory used – just higher quality, and newer! It then gets a soak test and a trip through our ultrasonic cleaner so it comes back factory-fresh.
- Premium recap service: This offers the same test, recap, soak test and ultrasonic clean as the standard service, but uses polymer capacitors. Made in a different way, these will never leak so perfect for peace of mind. Note we can’t offer premium recaps on A500 or A2000 models are polymer capacitors are not available in all sizes.
Whichever service you choose, we only use premium brands such as Panasonic and Wurth, and we’ll always advise if there are other faults that need attention – we don’t simply recap and return. Also remember we always give recaps an untrasonic clean, and our work benefits from a 90 day warranty.
Whilst we offer a fixed price on recapping, please be aware this is not a “fix-all” service and sometimes if the damage is severe, additional work may be required which would be charged extra. We’ll always discuss this with you before commencing any extra work.
